Podcasts have taken over! Allowing students to podcast and vodcast not only allows them to become creators of technology but learn how to communicate and collaborate. In my own classroom, students use vodcasting to create weekly video announcements for the community to watch. There are free tools to use, but the paid subscription of WeVideo is honestly the best.
Students can use the editing tool to edit film, add music, add stock images, or even titles. My students enjoy using portable green screens as they can edit film to transport themselves around the world! They also enjoy using the royalty-free music to enhance their projects. Vodcasting has been helpful in allowing my students to have a voice and be involved with the school community.
Students take their completed videos and upload it to YouTube for the community to watch. Vodcasting has allowed my once shy students to come out of their shell and be actively involved. Students even create their own graphics using Canva to add to the background of their videos.
One aspect I want to continue with my students is creating a podcast about events happening on campus. Learning how to create a podcast would allow my students to not be consumers of technology, but creators and innovators.
