Microblogging is a way to communicate in an online format with posts. There are popular platforms to microblog including Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and even TikTok! Some of my favorite microbloggers are real people leading semi-normal lives and want to help other teachers without reinventing the wheel.
One of my favorite microbloggers is EdTechAri who really is cooler IRL. Ari has been an inspiration to me in the tech world as she works to bring pedagogy with technology integration to teachers. I especially appreciate her posts on working to ensure equity and access to all students, especially girls in STEM. www.edtechari.net
Bill Selak is another microblogger I enjoy following on social media. He actually was my professor for one of my masters classes in graduate school! He has a podcast and blog, but I mostly follow his Twitter posts. Bill Selak has all things educational technology and brings in a lot of strategies to use in the classroom. www.billselak.com
Another microblogger I love for their quick videos is Gerry Brooks. A veteran educator in Kentucky, Mr. Brooks uses his videos to encourage and help teachers through the humor. He has also had public speaking sessions to help teachers improve their instructional practice. https://www.gerrybrooksprin.com/
Video from Brooks, G. (2020, Dec 2). A day in the life....ery school...erywhere!!! [Video]. YouTube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bMsz5PDH3v0
My own blog will be a potpourri of the three microbloggers above with information on instructional technology, equity, and humor. I love learning about new technology strategies and tools, so I hope to create a blog that follows those passions.
